Course Description: This course explores inter-relationships among technology, schooling, and society. We will use sociological, historical, and philosophical frameworks to consider implications of the proliferation of technologies for formal and informal education systems. With evolving norms sometimes conflicting with institutional habits established in prior centuries, we will focus on purposes for public schooling; changing dynamics of traditional power structures; the role of policy in framing social constructs; and other issues related to equity, cultural diversity, student empowerment, and communities.

Course Description: This course engages educators in a student­centered, active learning experience using technology resources and tools to promote questioning, critical thinking and problem­-solving skills. Educators will learn about technology resources & tools that support problem­-based, project-­based, and inquiry­-based learning in all disciplines and design a project­ or inquiry-­based activity with assessments for the students (or teachers) they teach.

Learning Strategies and Curriculum Planning for Diverse Students

Course Description: This course explores learning theory and other research in order to determine the connections to student learning preferences, and planning and assessment for personalization of learning. In a practical and theoretical format, this course is built upon the premise that curriculum planning and assessment are based upon the various ways that students access knowledge and engage in learning. Differentiation of instruction and universal design for learning will be analyzed in order for participants to have a framework for addressing the diversity of learners who populate the classroom. The course will enable students to investigate and examine classroom strategies which foster a sense of belonging and community for all students that lead to successful learning. Course Description: This online course targets teachers interested in coaching and leading technology-rich innovation in today's schools. This includes planning for school and district level, planning and implementing technology-rich innovation strategies, and development and dissemination of professional development in local, regional, and global venues. Coursework involves troubleshooting of hardware, software and cloud based systems, as well as web-based authoring and programming tools. Students explore the roles that teacher leaders and coaches inhabit, and how these roles can energize other classroom teachers and build a community of active participants in innovative, technology-rich programs. Students in this course will study the means to foster leadership around the planning and development of goals for their school technology needs.
